The Media Prima Berhad Story

The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad, which the latter owned since 1993, and Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad, which operates TV3, were separated in 2003, resulting in the creation of the firm. The Group runs five radio stations: 8FM, Buletin FM, Fly FM, Hot FM, and Molek FM, along with four television channels: TV3, DidikTV KPM, 8TV, and TV9. The largest newspaper publisher in Malaysia, New Straits Times Press, is also owned by Media Prima. It has three national news brands: New Straits Times, Berita Harian, and Harian Metro. Five free-to-air television channels are owned and run by Media Prima, each of which has its branding and subsidiary companies. The group's teleshopping network is called WOW SHOP. It was founded on February 22, 2016, as CJ Wow Shop, a joint venture with CJ E&M, a division of the Korean conglomerate CJ Group. After the company acquired CJ's final 49% interest, the shopping channel service became a 100 % subsidiary.

The computer systems of the entire Media Prima group have been compromised and corrupted with ransomware. In the ransomware attack, the attackers sought 1,000 bitcoins from Media Prima.
