The Mondelēz International Story

Thomas H. McInnerney founded the business as National Dairy Products Corporation (National Dairy) on December 10, 1923. The company was created to carry out a roll-up approach in the then-fragmented American ice cream market. It gained access to the whole array of dairy products through acquisitions. It surpassed Borden to become the biggest dairy corporation in the world and the United States by 1930. His efforts led to the 1923 merger of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Rieck McJunkin Dairy Co., and McInnerney's Hydrox to create the National Dairy Products Corporation. The new company was then placed on the New York Stock Exchange with an oversubscribed offer of 125,000 shares.
