Your role

GSK Malaysia is looking for an intern who will be partnering with SMAS analysts on weekly and month-end closing activities. Responsible for the preparation of journal entries, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, and execution of internal control by GSK Internal Control Framework. The intern will be assigned different parts of the process and trained to support various key activities.

Your key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Maintenance of inventory master data.
  • Accounting of goods in transit.
  • Calculation of purchase price variance.
  • Execute month-end close steps under the month-end close checklist (MEC) and SOP.
  • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, and execution of internal control under the GSK Internal Control Framework.
  • Execute transaction interfaces between ERP systems; extraction of reports from ERP and Bison.
  • Raise and post journal entries.
  • Inventory reports.
  • Manufacturing overhead reports, OPEX.
  • Data collection for monthly and quarterly corporate reports.
  • Provide support to analyst members within the team thereby ensuring quality is maintained.
  • Data collection (KPI) to measure customer service levels.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other ad-hoc activities like participating in any compliance audits and responding to audit queries

Training & development

The learning outcome expected from this program is that you will be able to:

  • Obtain a high-level overview of the month-end close activities and reconciliations.
  • Obtain a high-level overview of control by the GSK Internal Control Framework.
  • Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to ensure successful SMAS month-end processes for manufacturing sites, including inventory, purchase price variations, and Opex.
  • This role will allow YOU to lead key activities to progress in YOUR career.
