For the past ten years, Celcom, Technology Resources Industries (TRI) Bhd, has been the top mobile cellular provider in Malaysia. Celcom's primary line of business is the development and marketing of fixed services including Direct Connect, Leased Lines, Equal Access, and Virtual Private Networks, as well as mobile services like Celcom GSM and ART 900. (VPN). Celcom has expanded into value-added services during its brief history in the telecommunications industry, most recently multimedia. Customers in Malaysia can get mobile communications services from Celcom Axiata Berhad. It offers telemetry and wireless broadband desk phone solutions in addition to voice, mobile internet, and email services. It also offers roaming and IDD services.

Known today as Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, Celcom Axiata Berhad was renamed in December 2009. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, serves as the company's headquarters. It was established in 1988. Axiata Group Berhad's subsidiary, Celcom AxiataBerhad, does business. As an STM Cellular Communications business with FleetGroup and Telekom Malaysia as shareholders, Celcom began operations in 1988. Later, Telekom Malaysia gave its 51 percent of the company to Tajuddin Ramli's TRI group.
